Heat and the Flood – A problem or an answer?

This presentation is one out of a series of three presentations about the Genesis Flood. This presentation is the essence of my flood model. The other two presentations provide more context.

    Very interesting model. If I look at the amount of lava, I think that the global air temperature and surface water temperature must have been very high. How could the Ark have survived in these circumstances? And how do you account for the fact that the waters covered ALL of the earth?

      Thanks for your reply. I think you are right that the average temperature of the water and air would be high. However, I also think that the contrast in heat would be much larger than today. Of course for air it is easy to spread around the world within weeks, however for water it would not be possible to cover the earth with an evenly spread temperature. Hot and cold water don’t mix well, and flows directions are dependant on a lot of factors, such as the coriolis effect and surface features.
      In othe words: you would have cold and hot areas.

      The earth is quite large…

      Even the hot air would not be a problem, because the heat capacity of air is very small compared to that of water. So in the cold areas the water would cool down the air a lot, while the water would increase in temperature just a very little. Hence the only thing that would have been important, is that the ark would be at the right place (colder area) at the right time. God made sure the ark was ready at the right time, so I just think he would also provide for it being at the right place.

      “And how do you account for the fact that the waters covered ALL of the earth?” I’m still working on a video to explain this. It’s taking more time than I wanted. But in short: it’s God who says he will kill all life on earth (which happens in my model) and sends a flood that will flood everywhere (which is what happens in my model). 70% of the earth is flooded with lava, and 30% is flooded with water. And eventually every place on earth had been flooded with water, just not every place at the same time. This is consistent with God’s goal: destroying all land life by a flood. There was nowhere to hide from this.

      At one place in the flood story, it says that the entire earth “was flooded for 150 days”. It also says it “was raining for 40 days and 40 nights”. This are the words of Noah. The world isn’t like that that it can stop raining everywhere on earth at the same day. That’s simply not how (wheather) fysics work. Hence I interepret “the entire earth was flooded for 150 days” as that Noah could not see any land during that time. He knew it was “the entire world” that flooded, because God told him that before he got into the ark.

      So I read the flood story as eyewitness account. In that context it is fully compatible.
